With distinguished participation...Egypt in the 1st Africa Climate Summit before COP 28

Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly arrived in the Kenyan capital، Nairobi heading a high-level delegation، to participate، on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi، in the Africa Climate Summit meetings، 4th to 8th September، in Kenya، organized in parallel with the African Climate Summit، Africa Climate Week will provide a platform for policymakers، practitioners، businesses and civil society to exchange on climate solutions، barriers to overcome and opportunities realized in different regions، leading to the first global stocktake concluding at COP28 in UAE in December of this year.


 The Africa Climate Summit 2023 on 4-6 September in parallel to the Africa Climate Week، from 4 to 8 September in Nairobi، both hosted by the Government of Kenya welcomes policymakers، practitioners، business and civil society representatives including Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly  and high level delegation.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly، Egypt’s Prime Minister، addressing various aspects of climate action، in light of Egypt’s current presidency of the COP27 climate summit، delivered three speeches during the activities of the first day of the Africa Climate Summit that serves as a platform to inform، frame، and influence commitments، pledges، and outcomes، ultimately leading to the development of the Nairobi Declaration a head of COP28 in UAE.


African Climate Summit is an important opportunity for African continent requirements and priorities 


Dr. Mostafa Madbouly، Egypt’s Prime Minister attends the Africa Climate Summit with Dr. Yasmine Fouad، Minister of Environment، Ministerial Coordinator and Envoy of the COP 27 Climate Conference، as the summit is an important opportunity to discuss the requirements and priorities of the African continent in the climate file، to unify the African voice in preparation for presenting pressing African issues during the upcoming COP 28 Climate Conference in Dubai، and to produce promising results for the continent that enhance adaptation and confrontation efforts for the effects of climate change.

Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto welconed Egypt’s Prime Minister، Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and stated in his opening speech، "Providing prosperity and well-being for Africa’s growing population without pushing the world towards a deeper climate catastrophe is not an abstract proposal or a sincere wish، rather، it is a real possibility، proven by science."


A platform to exchange on climate solutions


Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto affirmed for policymakers، practitioners، businesses and civil society، including Egypt’s Prime Minister، Dr. Mostafa Madbouly، that with the African Climate Summit، Africa Climate Week will provide a platform to exchange on climate solutions، barriers to overcome and opportunities realized in different regions، leading to the first global stock take concluding at COP28 in UAE in December of this year.

Kenyan President William Samoei revealed that the African Climate Summit  and Africa Climate Week will consider four major systems-based tracks with a view to providing region-focused contributions to inform the global stock take on Energy systems and industry Cities، urban and rural settlements، infrastructure and transport Land، ocean، food and water societies، health، livelihoods، and economies as Climate action is not a Global North issue or a Global South issue but it is our collective challenge، and it affects all of us، so it is a must to come together and cooperate to find common، global solutions. 


The African Climate Summit  includes Africa Climate Exhibition


The African Climate Summit  and Africa Climate Week، attended by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly، Egypt’s Prime Minister and high figures include Africa Climate Exhibition، scheduled to take place from 4th to 8th September 2023، that  serve as a platform to showcase global solutions، innovations، and projects aimed at mitigating climate change challenges. 


Kenyan President William Samoei indicated that Africa Climate Exhibition comprises exhibitors from around the world who will participate، providing an opportunity for attendees of the Africa Climate Summit and Africa Climate Week to interact، learn، and adopt practical solutions to climate change as the collective action is key to tackling climate change.


Africa Climate Summit is symbol of Kenya's commitment to international cooperation


The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi will be the prestigious host venue for the Africa Climate Summit & Africa Climate Week 2023، as an iconic landmark and a symbol of Kenya's commitment to international cooperation، KICC provides a fitting setting for this significant event with its state-of-the-art facilities and ample space.

 KICC offers the ideal platform to accommodate the diverse range of participants، including government officials، policymakers، climate experts، businesses، civil society organizations، and international delegates such as Dr. Mostafa Madbouly، Egypt’s Prime Minister، Dr. Yasmine Fouad، Minister of Environment، Ministerial Coordinator and Envoy of the COP 27 Climate Conference.   


The COP 27 envoy explained that the Africa Climate Summit & Africa Climate Week 2023، contains a number of climate-related issues that affect the African continent، including adaptation in Africa، raising ambition، the African perspective on financing adaptation، the global climate agenda، and the new global design of the climate financing system، in addition to the road from Nairobi to the upcoming COP 28 climate conference which will be held in Dubai، the United Arab Emirates، later this year.
