Apple and Amazon posted earnings
European markets end lower Friday as investors react to earnings; euro zone inflation falls to 2.1%

European markets closed lower on Friday as investors reacted to an expected decline in euro zone inflation and a swathe of earnings this week.
The pan-European Stoxx 600
finished Friday’s session down 0.5%, with major bourses and almost all sectors retreating.
The U.K.’s FTSE 100 index slipped 0.1%, Germany’s DAX fell 0.8%, while France’s CAC ended 0.4% lower. Italy’s FTSE MIB and Spain’s IBEX 35
also edged down about 0.1%.
In the U.S., Apple and Amazon posted earnings after the close Thursday. Amazon said its cloud computing unit’s revenue increased 20% in the third quarter, beating Wall Street’s estimates and sending shares more than 13% higher. Apple also reported strong fiscal fourth-quarter earnings; its shares rose about 3%.
