Philip Morris International injected USD7bn into smoke-free products
Philip Morris International said that it injected up to USD7bn investments into researches focusing on producing less harmful smoke-free products over a period extending for 12 years.
PMI’s researches aim at encouraging adult smokers to turn to smoke-free products through emphasizing on heating-tobacco technologies.
Since 2008, PMI transformed its strategic vision towards creating a smoke-free future and tapped more than 400 scientists to achieve this vision, according to the world’s leading intenrational tobacco company.
PMI claims that heating flavors and nicotine and allows adult smokers to enjoy tobacco without combustion.
“ The idea of heating tobacco has been around for more than two decades. But it’s only recently that we have managed to find ways to heat tobacco that result in products that are satisfying to adult smokers,” according to PMI’s website.
“ We have managed to create two breakthrough heated tobacco products, without burning or combustion. Each heats the tobacco in a distinct way. One product uses an electronically controlled heater, and the other uses a carbon heat source.”
PMI saidthat heating tobacco helps produce less harmful materials as compared with conventional cigarettes without discarding the tasty flavor of nicotine. With giving up smoking being the safest and the best decision, PMI advisedadult smokers to take up its innovative smoke-free products.While vowing to promote the attractiveness of smoke-free products, PMI invitedadult smokers to start a community dialogue over the company’s smoke-free products.On the other hand, the world health Organization have warned that tobacco industry’s Heated Tobacco Control isaddictive and “ in pursuit of profit rather than public health”, and should be subjected to the same policy and regulatory measures applied to tobacco products, according to report issued by University of Bath’s Tobacco Tactics organization.
