Egypt’s OHM Hotels in line with hygiene guidelines, TÜV NORD confirms

TÜV NORD Egypt stated that OHM’s operational practices in its Egypt Hotels do conform to the guidelines issued by the ministry of tourism in Egypt and TÜV Nord Guidelines for re-opening the hotels which includes sanitation and hygiene.

Following the recently released governmental regulations allowing hotels that put in effect strict sanitation and hygiene protocols to operate with limited occupancy levels, TÜV NORD Egypt audits OHM’s Hotels in El Gouna and Taba Heights and confirms that the Hotels do meet the international standards of sanitation and hygiene.

Orascom Hotels Management, the hotel management subsidiary of Orascom Development Group, has recently unveiled its “Together we Can!” initiative, which features enhanced sanitation and hygiene protocols addressing the new normal post COVID-19.

“Together we Can!” builds on the rigorous hygiene and cleaning protocols already in place, with extended focus on enhanced hotel cleaning practices, social interactions, and workplace practices to meet the new health and safety challenges and expectations.

“Protecting our guests and staff is imperative. We are taking the current situation so seriously, and have used the last months to closely monitor WHO guidelines and international health advancements to develop comprehensive operational and staff training protocols that allow our hotels continue to provide a safe place for our guests and staff”, explained Schmitt, CEO, Orascom Hotels Management.

OHM has recently announced that its hotels are ready to welcome guests in El Gouna as of May 15 and Taba Heights as of May 21, 2020. The announcement also outlined some details of its new operational manual.

Among the announced operational standards are:

General Practices

• Adapted intervals between room occupancy

• Daily contactless temperature checks for all hotel staff and guests

• Extra disinfection of public areas and the most frequently touched surfaces and points

• Public seating setup was reviewed to allow a 2.0m distance

• Sanitizer Dispensers are made available at key points around the hotel

• Contactless payment, check-in and check-out at several properties

Guest Rooms

• Thoroughly cleaned as per industry leading sanitizing protocols

• AC Air filters are cleaned and replaced often

• Mini bars are emptied.

• Beach towels are placed in guestrooms

• All room amenities are sanitized, and seal packed

• All reusable collateral was removed from all rooms

Pools

• Distance between sunbeds is 1.8m

• All sunbeds are sanitized after each use

Restaurants

• Distance between tables is 2.0m

• All tables and chairs are sanitized after each use

• All placemats are replaced after each use

• No self-service buffets

Spa, Salon & Fitness Center

• Following direction of local authorities and medical experts

• Alternative wellness options are provided to guests

Staff Training

Throughout the operational process, Hotel team members are provided with personal protective equipment and enhanced training to protect their well-being. Furthermore, All Hotel staff received adequate training, in line with the directions of the WHO, to handle any situation related to the virus. We are prepared with both preventative and protective measures.

Coordination

Through the town’s medical facility, we are in very close contact with the virus control authorities in the country. This allows us to secure the needed support in the most convenient manner whenever an emergency could arise. On top, being a part of a centrally managed community, we are working closely with the different outlets in our towns to re-instate safety measures.
