Elsewedy to build electricity network in Toskha at EGP100m

Egypt’s Deputy Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Osama Asran attended the signing of agreement for executing an external electricity network over 40,000 acres in Toshka area, south Egypt.

The two parties to the agreement were the Upper Egypt Electricity Distribution Company and Elsewedy Electric for Trade and Distribution  

The network will will cost an estimated EGP 100m, including consulting works, designs, supervision, implementation, and installations.

The contract obligates Elsewedy to carry out the project, as work is scheduled to be completed early next October, according to statement released by Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy.

The Electric Power Systems Engineering Company will undertake tasks ranging from the design and consultancy works as well as participating in supervising the implementation with the Upper Egypt Electricity Distribution Company, the statement added.

The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy is currently undertaking the necessary measures to carry out the network as a matter of urgent priority. The network will form part of the first phase in the Toshka region’s South Valley Development Project.

The ministry is currently implementing several high and ultra high voltage networks and transformer stations as well increasing the current voltage of  Toshka station from  220 kV to 500 kV.

The ministry  will also pursue the construction of the 255 km-long, 550 kV Benban 3 – Toshka electric line, which is scheduled to be finalized within months.
