*Unveiling Its Vision for an Integrated Network of Interconnected Waterfront Destinations…
Tatweer Misr Launches SALT Marina with EGP 28 Billion in Investments within the EGP 70 Billion SALT Project
Cementing Egypt’s position on the global yacht tourism map, Tatweer Misr introduces the first integrated concept for interconnected coastal projects by an Egyptian real estate developer, supporting the state’s targets to develop the blue economy and enhance the competitiveness of Egypt’s tourism destination.
Tatweer Misr, one of Egypt’s leading real estate development companies, announced the launch of its vision for developing a network of interconnected coastal projects and unveiled SALT Marina as its first application on Egypt’s Mediterranean Coast within the SALT project. The wider SALT project represents EGP 70 billion in investments, including EGP 28 billion allocated to SALT Marina. This step supports the state’s direction to position Egypt as a regional hub for yacht tourism and to leverage the country’s coastlines to advance the blue economy and strengthen the competitiveness of Egypt’s tourism destination regionally and internationally.
The launch of SALT Marina comes as an extension of Tatweer Misr’s strategy to develop integrated coastal destinations, following the success achieved through the launch of IL Monte Galala Towers and Marina on the Red Sea Coast. With this new milestone, the company continues to implement a long-term vision focused on developing world-class waterfront destinations that help diversify Egypt’s tourism offering, create sustainable economic value, and transform marinas into year-round drivers of tourism and investment. The SALT project targets total sales of EGP 100 billion, of which EGP 24 billion has already been achieved.
Building on this vision, Tatweer Misr is introducing the first integrated concept for interconnected coastal projects by an Egyptian real estate developer. The concept is based on linking the company’s waterfront destinations within one unified ecosystem that creates synergy between projects, enhances the investment and tourism value of each destination, and provides a more integrated experience for yacht owners and visitors. This, in turn, contributes to supporting the growth of yacht tourism and reinforcing the North Coast’s position as a fully integrated waterfront destination.
Within this framework, SALT Marina connects with Fouka Bay and D-Bay as part of an integrated network of waterfront destinations. This establishes a new model for coastal development based on destination integration and the optimal use of natural assets and tourism infrastructure, with the potential for future expansion through the addition of new waterfront destinations within Tatweer Misr’s project portfolio.
SALT Marina embodies Tatweer Misr’s vision for creating integrated coastal destinations that combine marinas, hospitality facilities, retail and entertainment activities, and residential components. Together, these elements create a vibrant environment that supports sustainable tourism and economic activity throughout the year, while offering an integrated experience that meets the aspirations of visitors and yacht owners. The project includes around 2,600 residential and hospitality units, in addition to a hotel and two beach clubs.
The project features an architectural vision inspired by the Italian city of Portofino, developed by Gianluca Peluffo & Partners. The marina has been designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding natural environment after being carved into the site’s natural formations, reflecting Tatweer Misr’s philosophy of delivering destinations with a global architectural identity that remains in harmony with the uniqueness of the local environment.
The project also extends Tatweer Misr’s approach to building strategic partnerships with leading international experts across design, master planning, technology, sustainability, and destination management. This ensures the application of international best practices in project development and operation, while enhancing the project’s competitiveness regionally and internationally.
It is expected to include a marina equipped to accommodate different yacht categories in line with the highest international standards, alongside advanced marine piers and specialized marine services, with a total pier area of 16,300 square meters and capacity for 65 yachts. It will also feature a comprehensive range of restaurants, cafés, retail and entertainment areas overlooking the waterfront, with a total commercial built-up area of 7,000 square meters, in addition to public spaces and residential and hospitality units. Together, these components will provide an integrated coastal experience that brings together residence, hospitality, entertainment, and marine lifestyle in one destination.
SALT Marina represents one of the most prominent new integrated coastal destinations on the Mediterranean. The project extends over a total area of approximately 340,000 square meters, with investments amounting to EGP 28 billion, and is centered around a world-class marina spanning 105,000 square meters. It features a 2.65-kilometer waterfront, in addition to three Crystal Lagoons covering a total area of 30,000 square meters, offering one of the most distinctive coastal experiences on Egypt’s Mediterranean Coast by combining direct Mediterranean Sea views with an integrated waterfront within one project.
The project is expected to generate around 5,000 direct job opportunities and 15,000 indirect job opportunities, attract approximately 600,000 visitors during the season, and deliver expected annual revenues of EGP 3 billion, with an estimated annual economic impact of around EGP 6 billion.
The project also includes around 2,600 residential units and a hotel comprising hotel rooms and serviced apartments, alongside a vibrant retail and entertainment destination featuring a diverse range of restaurants and shops overlooking the waterfront. In addition, the marina will be equipped to accommodate 65 yachts in accordance with the highest international standards, strengthening the North Coast’s position as a global tourism and waterfront destination, while supporting the state’s objectives to develop yacht tourism and maximize the potential of the promising blue economy.
“The launch of SALT Marina represents an extension of Tatweer Misr’s vision to develop integrated destinations that support Egypt’s competitiveness on the marine tourism map and maximize the benefit of the exceptional assets of its coasts,” remarked Dr. Ahmed Shalaby, Co-founder, President, and CEO of Tatweer Misr. “We believe that the future of coastal development is not tied to developing standalone projects, but rather to building an integrated ecosystem of destinations that create sustainable economic and tourism value, while aligning with the state’s targets to develop the blue economy and reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional hub for yacht tourism.”
“From this perspective, SALT Marina embodies the next phase of our long-term strategy by introducing the first integrated concept for interconnected coastal projects by an Egyptian real estate developer. This reflects our philosophy of developing world-class destinations built on innovation, international partnerships, and integration between projects, contributing to elevating the marine tourism experience, creating sustainable value for society and the economy, and reinforcing Egypt’s position as a leading waterfront destination at the regional and international levels.” He added.
The launch of SALT Marina confirms Tatweer Misr’s continued implementation of its long-term strategy to develop world-class coastal destinations extending from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean. This contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of Egypt’s tourism sector, attracting quality investments, and strengthening Egypt’s position as one of the region’s promising yacht tourism destinations through a development model based on innovation, international partnerships, sustainability, and integrated destinations that create sustainable economic value for future generations
