European stocks ended Monday’s session in mixed territory after Asia-Pacific markets broadly rose, with investor attention focused on the latest developments in the U.S.-Iran war.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 benchmark closed just below the flatline. France’s CAC 40 led the main indexes, notching a 0.33% gain, followed by the Italian FTSE MIB, which rose 0.25%. The U.K.’s FTSE 100 fell almost 0.1%, as Germany’s DAX

 shed 0.25%.

In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 2.12% higher, while South Korea’s Kospi

 rose 4.61%. Mainland China’s CSI 300 gained 0.59%. Australia’s benchmark S&P/ASX 200

 rose marginally higher.

Oil prices moved higher as Middle East turmoil persisted, with the U.S. striking three Iranian oil tankers over the weekend and U.S. Central Command saying Tehran had targeted its warships with ballistic missiles.
