As Egypt marks both the holy month of Ramadan and International Women’s Day this March, mobility patterns across the country reflect how people balance daily commitments, social gatherings, and family moments during this culturally significant period. According to the latest data from DiDi Egypt, flexibility and accessibility remain key priorities for riders navigating their schedules throughout the month.

During Ramadan, movement across cities takes on a unique rhythm as people travel between work, iftar plans, and late-night gatherings. As of March 6, the platform’s “Flex” product line accounts for 58% of all rides in Egypt during Ramadan, marking a notable increase from 53% recorded during Ramadan 2025. This growth highlights riders’ increasing preference for more adaptable and cost-efficient travel options during the busy season.

Demand trends also reveal interesting shifts in travel behavior. While Thursday emerged as the busiest day for rides during Ramadan 2025, early insights from Ramadan 2026 show Wednesday taking the lead, recording a growth of approximately 10% in rides compared to the previous year’s peak day, indicating a slight change in how riders plan their outings and social commitments throughout the week. These patterns reflect the vibrant movement that characterizes Ramadan evenings, as people travel across the city to visit family and friends and attend gatherings.

Coinciding with these seasonal mobility trends, women riders continue to play a significant role across the DiDi platform in Egypt. Women currently represent more than 56% of DiDi’s riders in the country, underscoring the importance of safe, reliable, and convenient mobility solutions that support women’s everyday movement.

Insights from DiDi’s latest rider experience surveys further highlight the positive experience reported by women passengers. More than four in five women riders (82%) say they are consistently able to successfully hail a ride through the app, while 79% note that vehicles are clean and well maintained, and 81% agree that estimated pickup times are reasonable. These high satisfaction levels point to the importance of safety, reliability, and convenience in shaping women’s transportation choices.

Together, these insights highlight how mobility habits across Egypt continue to evolve during culturally significant moments such as Ramadan and International Women’s Day. As people move across cities to balance work, family gatherings, and social visits throughout the holy month, DiDi Egypt remains committed to offering flexible and accessible mobility solutions that support riders’ daily journeys
